Burning Energy

What is the best fat burning exercise to do without using your legs?

I am a 28 year old guy. I had a serious knee operation 4 weeks ago and I will be on crutches for another 4-5 weeks as I can't put any weight on my left leg. I can't run properly or ride a bike for a few months either. I have noticed that I am putting on weight (I have started to have excess body fat on my waist, chest and face for a few months but I have never been fat). What are the best fat burning exercises to do at home without using my knee?

  1. How about swimming - it's a very gentle excercise - so might not harm your knee?
  2. Use a wheel chair, don't sweat it, once you recover, you'll do wht you have to do to get back, seeing as how your that concerned over it now. most people in your situation (or not in situation)don't care about exersizing at all.
  3. SEX
  4. get a stationary bike with the arm levers. Pedal with one leg, let the other rest on something and use your arms to move the levers. One heck of a workout.
  5. lie on a flat bench raise your knees to your chin and repeat, you should only be using your stomach muscles keep your legs raised the whole time off the bench start with ten at a time slowely then go up week after week you shopuld sweat your a** off. and burn tons of calories.
  6. A hand bicycling machine ( hard to find) . You could try punching or doing arm circles with a hoop.
  7. Best to wait till your better mate then you wont get injured. What you could do is watch what your eating and if wounds are healed try a bit of swimming, takes quite a while for knee, leg surgery to recover.Swimming or walking about swimmpool is possible and good cardio.and all round exercise, go for it.
  8. The Very Best Exercise , you can do , to stop piling on the pounds.....is to Push Your Food Away ! Because you are inactive , you will not be burning as many Calories.....and what do Extra Calories make ? ....Excess body fat , on your waist , chest and face ! If you don't slow your Calorie Intake down....you will double the weight , you have put on , in the last 4 weeks ! Eat more Fruits , Salads and Vegetables.... Drink more water ! Eat less , fatty foods , foods cooked in fat....biscuits , cakes , savouries ,sausage rolls , pies , .......drink less alcohol and sugary drinks....if you feel like a snack between meals or late at night....have low calorie snacks ......fruit ....vegetables....salads.... AVOID Sweets , Chocolates and Toffees and all such like.... 500 calories a day extra (mars bar) , will put 50 pound (3st 8lbs) of fat on you in a year....if it is in addition , to what you are actually burning up ! If you are putting on a pound of weight a week.....you are eating 500 calories a day too much ! (3,500 calories per week) Sort your eating out....then play with weights (barbells and dumbells).........do press ups....do sit ups (firm your tum)....do body twists....side bends......and dance....yes dance in your chair ! Dancing if your legs were ok....burn more calories , than Walking , running , most sports .....and I think only Squash burns more calories ! Table Tennis (of which I am a County Coach) , can be played , sitting down ! And swimming , is great...but what about your bandages , and stitches getting wet ? Good luck !
  9. Sounds like you need to rest to avoid any problems occuring in the future, I would forget about exercise for now, but limit your calorie intake to 1500 a day. 4-5 weeks will go fast enough and only having 1500kcal a day your unlikely to put on weight!
