whats the best way to clean the fuel filter on a 2002 freelander landrover?

i cant afford a new fuel filter, so would it be ok to clean the one i have?

1. Take the old one off and blow some air through it
2. I would just blow it out or leave it alone. How much is it for a filter 10-15 dollars? Maybe you can save money going to a junk yard and getting one for half price, maybe if the vehicle was in an accident it will be like half clean or something.
3. i don't think you can actually clean it. they are meant to be replaced. you may have to spring for a new one.
4. buy a new one. not worth the hassle
5. new filters are like $10, you can't afford one?
